About The Author

Dr. Max Sawaf, a 55 year old Syrian American, graduated from Damascus University before training in general surgery at the University of Connecticut program in Hartford. After further study at Boston University he obtained his Boards in Anesthesiology and pursued a fellowship in Cardiac Anesthesiology. He completed a second fellowship in Critical Care Medicine at the University of Massachusetts.

The author worked as the Chief of Cardiac Anesthesia at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center in South Carolina, a 300 bed hospital for six years before going back to San Francisco to train in pain management, after which, he was granted a subspecialty in Pain Management by the American Board of Anesthesiology. In 1992, Dr. Sawaf established, the Long Beach Pain Management Center at the Long Beach Memorial Hospital, one of the largest pain clinics in Southern California.

In 1997, Dr. Sawaf trained with Dr. Paul Straub in Torrance, California in hair transplantation, with Dr. Fitzpatrick in San Diego in CO2 laser resurfacing, and with Dr. Mitch Goldman in ambulatory vein removal and Dr. Butterwick in tumescent liposuction. In 1998, Dr. Sawaf went to Montreal where he continued his training in cosmetic surgery at the McGill University with Dr. Fanous.

Dr. Max Sawaf moved to Dubai in 2000 after 17 years of practice in the USA. Currently, Dr. Sawaf is the Director of Emirates Hospital in Dubai, and Emirates Hospital in Abu Dhabi. Dr. Sawaf is also the Medical Director of the CosmeSurge Centers, the international network for vitality, hormone replacement and anti-aging services, as well as, esthetic surgery, weight reduction, cosmetic dentistry, cosmetic services and lasers.
